M&E normally refers to mechanical and electrical services. MEP includes public-health systems. MEPX defines the actual disciplines, deliverables and responsibility boundaries in every appointment.
When should an MEP consultant be appointed?
RIBA Stage 1 or 2 normally provides the best opportunity to influence utilities, plant space, energy strategy and distribution routes. Later appointments can begin after the available information has been reviewed.
Can MEPX support refurbishment and occupied buildings?
Yes. Support can include condition surveys, technical investigations, capacity checks and coordinated design around retained services, access and phasing constraints.
